2008 Permian Basin Fair &
Exposition The Permian Basin Fair & Exposition will give eleven $1,000 scholarships and three $500 scholarships to senior exhibitors in the livestock division. To be eligible for a scholarship the applicant must comply with the following guidelines: 1. Be an active member of the Future Farmers of America or 4-H Program and exhibiting in the current fair. Should an exhibitor not show in the Permian Basin Fair after making application his/her application will be void. 2. The applicant must be a senior in high school when making application and also must have been in the top ½ of the class the previous school year (junior year). 3. Applicants can be selected from only one market division, steer/heifer, lamb, goat, or pig, but can enter in each division if showing in that division. Junior Breeding Heifer exhibitors will be in the steer division. The scholarship committee may award more than one scholarship per division or no scholarship per division depending on the strength of the applicants. 4. Turn in a complete application (with picture) and a two page narrative of the applicant’s activities, including the kind of projects and scope of each, leadership and citizenship activities, interest in advance education and future plans. SAT or ACT scores, rank in class and grade point average must be entered on official transcript by a school official. 5. Be able to attend an interview with the scholarship committee. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted as soon as possible to set up an interview time on September 6th for goat applicants, September 7th for steer/heifer, and lamb applicants, September 13th for pig applicants. We will make an effort to contact all applicants to inform them if they were selected for an interview. 6. Scholarship funds may only be used for tuition, books and fees at an accredited college or university. The recipient must notify the Scholarship Board of the college or university of their choice. Scholarship funds will be submitted directly to the college or university on behalf of the recipient. The college or university must return any unused scholarship funds to the Scholarship Board within 60 days if the student withdraws from school. The recipient has five (5) years from the date of the Fair the scholarship was awarded to utilize the scholarship funds. After five (5) years the funds will be unobligated. 7. Scholarship
