Permian Basin 2008 Fair & Exposition
General Livestock Show Rules

1.  Entry deadline postmarked August 25, 2008.  LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED WITH A $10 PENALTY PER ENTRY.  SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER OF EXHIBITOR MUST BE ON ENTRY CARDS.  No limit on number of entries.  Anyone (Adult or Youth) may enter Open Shows.  Entry fees must accompany entries as follows:

Steers and heifers
          SHOW A.....................$25.00 per entry
          SHOW B.....................$25.00 per entry
Lambs and market goats
          SHOW A.............$15.00 per entry
          SHOW B.............$15.00 per entry
Pigs......................................$15.00 per entry Poultry..........................$2.00 per bird
Rabbits..................................$3.00 per rabbit  
Sheep Dog Trials.....................$25.00 per entry
    ($20 payback)
Cattle Dog Trials............$50.00 per entry
    ($30 payback)

3.  All reasonable precautions will be taken to protect the property and exhibits of the concessionaires and exhibitors and security guards will be on duty nightly.  However, the Permian Basin Fair & Exposition or Ector Co. assumes no responsibility of the care, custody, or control of any exhibitors livestock or the exhibitors equipment.

4.  Decision of the classifier and judge of each division will be final.  Any animal classified out of the class in which it is entered will be moved to the appropriate class by the classifier.  The decision of the classifier and/or sifter will be final and protests will not be considered.  Any objection or interference by an exhibitor, parent, agent or teacher may cause immediate removal of livestock and parties involved from the fair grounds and barred from future shows.

5.  Prizes or trophies will be awarded to breed Champions and Reserve Breed Champions and  trophy buckles will be awarded to the Grand and Reserve Grand Champions of a division.

6.  Showmanship buckles will awarded to the Champion and Reserve Champion Showman for beef, lamb, goat and pig. Showmanship exhibitors will be chosen from each class of a division to return to participate in the Showmanship contest.  Showmanship exhibitors must enter either the lamb, goat, pig, steer or heifer division and be wearing their own exhibitor number.

7.  Livestock washing allowed only in washracks.  No livestock washing allowed in barns or outside.

8.  No trimming stalls or blocking tables will be allowed on the east side of the livestock barns.  They will be allowed on the west, north, and south sides of the barns.

9.  Absolutely no selling of livestock, rabbits or poultry on the fairgrounds.

10.  Show animals are expected to be trained to lead easily and handle properly through processing and in the show ring.  Any animal determined to be unruly by a show superintendent may be removed from the show.

11.  No livestock, rabbits, or poultry will be allowed to be removed from the grounds before release time and will need a written release from a designated Farming & Ranching division official.

12.  No dogs are allowed on the grounds, except seeing eye dogs and dogs entered in a Fair Event.  These dogs are restricted to the show area.

13.  The Ector County Coliseum grounds are a licensed premise.  No alcohol is allowed to be brought into the grounds.

14.  The Permian Basin Fair reserves the right to the interpretation of these rules by the Farming & Ranching Division Executive Committee.  They reserve the right to make any changes they deem necessary, and to substitute another judge in case the judges listed are unable to attend.
