Permian Basin Fair and Exposition’s

CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY PROJECT SHOW

September 5 – 13, 2008

Entry Deadline:  May 30, 2008 (Follow-up communication will be made at the beginning of the next school year to all entries which are received.)

Projects that were made in school since the previous September (2007) are eligible for submission to the Permian Basin Fair & Exposition’s CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY PROJECT SHOW.

Projects entered must be the work of a student or students enrolled in a high school or junior high school career-technology class approved by the TEA for the current or previous academic year.

It will be the responsibility of the exhibitor(s) to place signs on each exhibit showing:

1) Student’s Name, 2) School Name, 3) Name of Item.

High school seniors entering projects in this division may apply for a Permian Basin Fair College Scholarship.  Applications will be sent to all entrants.  $4500 in college scholarships were awarded last year.

Projects in this division will be displayed inside and will be locked at night; however, the Permian Basin Fair is not responsible for theft, fire, vandalism or destruction of property.

The following juried classes will be offered.  The superintendent may divide these classes into large or small project categories before judging begins.  The division or number of these classes will be determined based on the number of entries received.

            1.  Advertising and Design
            2.  Automotive Technology (air cooled, gas, diesel) Power Mechanics
            3.  Drafting (communication, computer aided design, architectural, technical, computer)
            4.  Woodworking (large and small)
            5.  Electronics Technology
            6.  Robotics and Automation Technology.


Criteria for judging projects:

 

1.  Workmanship

30 points

 

 

2.  Design and materials used

20 points

 

 

3.  Practicality

20 points

 

 

4.  Degree of Difficulty

20 points

 

 

5.  Finish

10 points

 

A write-up is not required but will be considered if available when projects are judged.  This write-up would contain a table of contents, a detailed description of the work, and photographs showing stages of construction

Sweepstakes Award - Permian Basin Fair Trophy presented to the school which is determined to have the best accumulation of projects.
