FROM PRESIDENT
CARLA CLARK
On
behalf of the fifty-two board members I would like to welcome you to the
Permian Basin Fair & Exposition website. My name is Carla Clark and I am
pleased to serve the Permian Basin as President for the 2008 Fair.
The
Fair is run by a full volunteer board that spends approximately eleven and
one half months preparing for our annual event touted as the “premier
family entertainment event of the Permian Basin.” These volunteers work
tirelessly to develop new venues and bring excitement and enthusiasm into
every thing they do.
You
speak, and we listen –
 |
Commercial vendors
who have been in Building “A” will be moving back to the floor of the
Coliseum. This will allow the division to grow and to take advantage of
newly installed air conditioning.
|
 |
Our Carnival promises to be bigger and better again this year.
Due to the excellent response we received last year, our carnival will
be expanding.
|
 |
New and exciting entertainment will be on the
grounds this year including BMX stunt teams
www.stuntteams.com
and the Knights of the Guild, the largest warhorse in the world. Our
local “Wild West Show” will be back with another new and exciting
performance. Please visit the Entertainment webpage for
additional thrilling and stimulating entertainment venues.
|
 |
Farming and Ranching
will be bringing all the excitement you can handle with events such as
the Youth Rodeo, Ranch Rodeo, Team Roping, Bull Riding, Barrel Racing,
Dog Trials and, Stock Show.
|
 |
Along with the more
traditional displays and competitions,
Creative Arts in Building G has a
variety of happenings throughout the run of the fair including
Department 56 – Christmas Village; glass etchings; “Fluffin’ the Flowers
Contest”; Chili Cook-Off; Salsa & Hot Sauce Competition; and of course
desserts. The division plans to expand the “Table for Two” competition
by having a professional division with the restaurant association this
year. Also in progress is a section titled “Trains, Planes and Games”
|
 |
Special Events &
Youth Divisions
will be bringing back our Scholarship Pageant, Kid’s Zone, Twirling,
Project Shows, and Talent Shows.
|
 |
With the help of our benefactors, the fair plans to award $33,000 in
scholarships to area youth. |
We look forward to seeing you at the Permian Basin Fair and Exposition,
and trust it will be a fun filled time for you, your family, and friends.
Be sure to check out the various events on our website and plan ahead to
"Kick up Your Heels!”
